Divisions

The Landscaping and Treework Division is responsible for maintaining the City’s urban forest, landscaping in City right-of-ways, parks and open spaces, roadside mowing and vegetation control and managing all responsibilities of the former Traffic division including street & traffic signs & signals and painted street markings.

The Division manages and implements the City’s tree planting and maintenance program (including the City’s 50/50 tree program), a hazardous tree program, and Adopt-A-Spot program for volunteer groups, businesses and individuals to plant and maintain different areas around the City to beautify the area..

The Division also has a small crew who install, remove and maintain all the street and traffic signs & signals and paint all the street markings (lines, arrows, crosswalks, stop bars and etc)

Interesting Statistics related to the Landscape and Treework Division

  • The City plants an average of 110 – 120 new trees each year.

  • The cost to remove a tree can vary between $100 and $1,300 each and the City budgets $4,000 each year to remove hazardous trees.

  • The City has a contract to control weed growth along almost 60 miles street curbs.

  • The City has more than 165 miles of painted street center lines, lane lines and edge lines it maintains.

  • The City has nearly 300 crosswalks it maintains.
