EITC Volunteering
Opportunities Flyer

The
Lewiston-Auburn CA$H Coalition, The City of Lewiston, City of
Auburn, Annie E. Casey Foundation, Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce, and
many other community partners are once again striving to get the word out about
the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).
Since
2004, the Lewiston-Auburn CA$H Coalition has spread the word
about the EITC, a Federal tax credit for low-to-moderate income workers. Many folks who are eligible are not even
aware of the credit, and it's exciting to note that the credit is in addition to
any other credits an individual may be eligible for. As a result of this
outreach, since 2004, $7,934,674
has been returned to the pockets of area low-to-moderate income workers. During the 2010 tax season, those eligible may be
entitled to a tax credit of
up to $5,657
upon submission of a 2009
tax return.
In that regard, during the upcoming tax season (January
– March, 2010),
"IRS-certified volunteer tax preparers" will
be available at established tax sites within the L-A community to assist with
FREE tax preparation. Those sites are listed below.
