LYAC Receives ANOTHER Award for UBUL & SMASHED!
 

PRESS RELEASE: May 15, 2008

On May 12, 2008, members of the Lewiston Youth Advisory Council received another award for their U Booze U Looze underage drinking awareness campaign and professional filming of SMASHED. Invited by Healthy Androscoggin to attend a Town Hall Meeting & Recognition Ceremony for Underage Drinking Prevention, LYAC was presented with a commendation certificate by Vicki Wiegman, Lewiston High School Substance Abuse Counselor. In turn, the youth presented Wiegman with a copy of SMASHED and its Educator's Guide. LYAC members also had the opportunity to talk with keynote speaker Attorney General Steve Rowe who lauded the group in his comments.

Others who spoke during the evening were: Mayor Laurent F. Gilbert, Sr.; Mayor John Jenkins; Angela Westhoff, Christine Letcher,, and Jayne Harper of Healthy Androscoggin; Lewiston Chief of Police William Welch; Bridget McAlonan of the Sexual Assault & Crisis Center; and Lewiston Police Officer/Alcohol Investigator Rob Ullrich.
