drinking and driving "mock crash" original script that will be
professionally videographed due to a $5,000 grant from the Maine Bureau of
Highway Safety.
SMASHED,
written by LYAC member Ashley Morgan and MADDOG Entertainment Director Seth
Roberts, is part of the youth council's ongoing

Along with Roberts who is

other community partners volunteering for the undertaking are Roy's Driving
Academy, Lewiston Fire Department, Lewiston Police Department, Lewiston Sun
Journal, United Ambulance, 9-1-1, Community Little Theatre, Russell Street
Variety, and Albert & Burpee Funeral Home. Filming will be done by ViaVision
Film & Video of Lewiston.
Filming will commence at various sites within the
City of Lewiston all day and evening Thursday, August 23rd, with wrap-up
filming on Friday, August 24th.
The script contains various scenes,
to include the decision to drink & drive and an intense group therapy
session with youth reacting to the death of a friend. Following filming and
editing, the youth council will seek State of Maine approval for the video
to be part of Statewide driver's ed curriculum. Roy's Driving Academy will
work with the youth council towards that end.
Participants in SMASHED are
LYAC members Ashley Morgan, who is directing the video; Jenni Golletti;
Athena Andonaides; Holly Lavorgna; Veronica Irish; Sara Fabrizio; Luke
Jensen; Hossain Naji; and Tim Stretton, along with MADDOG Entertainment
actors Bill McLean, Jeff Randall, and Sarah Radovich. Several Lewiston
students will also serve as extras in the video.
