General Requirements
The City Clerk's Department oversees and administers the business licensing program for the City of Lewiston. The city licenses over 40 different types of businesses as required by either
Maine state statutes or the
City Code of Ordinances. Prior to receiving a city license to conduct a business, most business types listed below require an inspection from the city from either the
Fire Department, Code (Health) Department, or
