The
Franklin Pasture Sports Complex Fundraising Campaign is a project that will put Lewiston
"on the map" for championship level facilities and competitions, providing growing opportunities for Lewiston’s children. The complex will be an investment with far-reaching impact to vast school and recreation activities, as well as the City of Lewiston as a whole. The Franklin Pasture Trustees' complex fundraising campaign goal is $5 million.
Lewiston Director of Recreation Maggie Chisholm notes,
“The upgrade of the Franklin Pasture Athletic Complex will certainly enhance the recreation and athletic experiences for the community at large. It will provide optimum recreation and athletic quality and quantity use for the participants, spectators, and visitors. The Recreation Department is very excited to be part of this process, and we look forward to the new project design and implementation.”

Why Is This Project Needed?
The Franklin Athletic Complex was created in 1994 and was a needed change to the athletic facilities at Lewiston High School. Throughout the years, as the high school has added new athletic programs, the demands on the field have taxed the present field. It’s time to invest in a surface that will support continuous play through all seasons. Additionally, as the number of athletes/athletics continue to grow in Lewiston, there is a need to create a second field to ensure all community members may experience the benefits of this complex.
An improvement to our athletic facilities would not be complete without resurfacing the existing track. As a place where the entire community goes to exercise, the present surface has deteriorated throughout the years. The new track will be constructed with a thicker surface which will allow for greater usage by the community as a whole and support our growing track participants. As part of our track improvements, the finishing touches on the expanded cross country trails will be completed.
In addition, our baseball and softball fields lack lights to support night games. With the ability to play at night, parents and spectators will have an increased ability to watch games without daytime conflicts. With one of the largest softball programs in the state, the City will finally have a facility that will support more games.
