Bates Mill No. 5 Task Force Information

The Planning and Code Enforcement Department promotes, coordinates and enforces land use activities within the City, in accordance with the Comprehensive Plan and applicable ordinances.

Some areas of involvement include:

■ Historic Preservation and review
■ Store and prepare copies of City maps
■ Zoning and Land use process
■ Development Review Process

The Department of Planning and Code Enforcement is also responsible for the issuance and inspection of the following:

Building permits Electrical permits Plumbing permits Sign permits	Sanitation inspection (daycare, restaurants etc.) License inspection Property maintenance inspection Land use inspection Flood plain management Board of Appeals

In August 2001 the City of Lewiston's Historic Preservation Review Board in August 2001 released a brochure titled: "HISTORIC LEWISTON: A self-guided tour of our history, architecture and culture" (716 kb PDF File). This is a 13-page brochure, which describes 131 of Lewiston's historic buildings, mills and sites; it also includes a map showing the geographic location of each entry. This brochure is a 716kb download and is in Adobe Acrobat Format. Printed versions are available by contacting the Planning Division at City Hall.
