The Economic & Community Development Department offers a variety of Programs and Services including:

■ Site and facility search assistance
Municipally owned business park sites
■ Commercial financing
■ Financial assistance for projects totaling $2 million or more in private investment, or to create 26 full-time quality jobs.
■ Streamlined development review and permitting processes.
■ Access to State and regional business assistance programs including commercial financing, work force training, management assistance programs, and manufacturing extension partnership programs.

This department also monitors and administers the City's Federally funded programs and grants such as:

■ Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
■ Urban Development Action Grant (UDAG)
■ Special Purpose Grants (Franklin Pasture, Ritz Theatre)
■ Economic Development (EDA Bates Mill)

This Economic & Community Development Department also provides technical assistance in applying for the following City Loan Programs (from initial inquiry to loan packaging thru the closing):

Housing Rehabilitation Program
Homebuyers Assistance
Commercial Rehab
Housing Opportunity Zone
Provides technical assistance to Public Service Providers in applying for CDBG funding
Monitors and processes repayments of all CD loans
Provides technical assistance to Public Service Providers in applying for CDBG funding

Monitors public service provider recipients of CDBG Funds
Manage the Lead Hazard Program (for the City of Lewiston)
Coordinates efforts with area banks for processing the Community Reinvestment ACT Program
