.The Lewiston City Mayor and Council have requested
that a committee with representation from Lewiston residents, city staff, and
the City Council, develop a master plan to address the current and future
needs of Kennedy Park in Lewiston.

Lewiston City Hall
As new development and housing continue to flourish
in the downtown area, the importance of Kennedy Park to individuals who live
and work near this 7.75 acre parcel, located in the heart of its urban core,
cannot be overstated. The committee, in consultation with architectural
consultants Richardson & Associates, is charged with delivering a vision for
this park that will enhance its passive and active recreational areas (such as
the open grassy, pool, and playground sectors), improve the overall aesthetics
of the park, and compliment new features such as the planned 12,000 square
foot skateboard park. City Administrator James Bennett has requested that the
committee deliver its final recommendations no later than early January 2006
so that some elements of the master plan be incorporated into his
recommendations for the 2006-2007 city budget.
