For vehicles purchased private sale or out of state, only the excise tax will be collected at the Treasurer's office. The remainder of the registration process will be completed at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

*Monroney Label is the Factory Window Sticker which is applied to the vehicle at time of manufacture. It needs only to be provided when registering a new vehicle.

Although it is not required for Registration purposes, please be aware that Maine has a Motor Vehicle Inspection Law for ALL Motor Vehicles and a requirement that you obtain a Maine Operators License within 30 days of becoming a Maine resident.
